The Trade Marks Registry has finally moved away from the outdated Internet Explorer-based signing system to a new Browser Signing Solution.
While this is a welcome change, the official manual is incomplete and misses critical steps (especially license purchase & activation).
This guide simplifies the entire process into a clear, practical walkthrough with logical flow and screenshot placeholders.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A valid Digital Signature Certificate (DSC Token)
- Admin rights on your system
- Chrome or Edge browser installed
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Download Browser Signing Solution
Download the official tool:

- Download the .exe file
- Save it to your system
Step 2: Install & Launch the Application
- Run the downloaded .exe file
- Complete installation
- Search for “Browser Signing Solution” in Start Menu
- Launch the application
Step 3: Register Your DSC
- Go to taskbar → hidden icons
- Locate Browser Signing Solution icon
- Right-click → Click “Registration”
Now:
- Select your Digital Signature Certificate
- Click “Sync (Register) logo”
Step 4: Purchase License (OPTIONAL STEP)
Some trademarks agents have informed that they are able to register their DSC without purchasing a license. If possible try doing this first, however, in case you are unable to register it without license, then you may follow the below mentioned step.
At this stage, you’ll see:
“License not found, Do you want to buy a license?”
- Click YES
- It will prompt you to enter the User PIN (DSC PIN)
- After entering the PIN, it will prompt you to enter the License Key
Now:
Go to: https://www.pki.network/india/buy-now
- Purchase license (~₹500 per system)
- Complete payment
- You will receive a License Key
Step 5: Activate License
- Enter the License Key in the prompt
- Click Submit
Upon success:
- A green tick mark appears
- Your DSC is now fully registered
You may need to click on Sync Logo once
Step 6: Sign Documents (Final Step)
When signing a document on the Trade Marks portal:
- Click “Sign with DSC”
- Browser (Chrome/Edge) will prompt you to allow it to communicate with the App.
→ Click Allow
A popup appears:
- Select your DSC
- Confirm signing
(If you have only 1 DSC attached, this popup may not be displayed and the document should be signed automatically)
You will see:
“Document signed successfully”
Important Notes
- Works only on Chrome & Edge (tested) (do not use Internet Explorer Mode)
- License is per DSC (as per our testing) (People have reported using DSC without license so please try it without adding license first)
- Keep Browser Signing Solution running in background
- Always ensure your DSC token is plugged in before signing
